Local 481 Grip and Electric department members attended on-site studio training just days after New England Studios (Devens, MA) opened for business. The three-day, train-the-trainer/mentor series focused on department-speci?c studio rigging and work practices, plus fall arrest and high angle rescue. It was specifically developed to address the "green bed" rigging system that is primarily used in Hollywood and is designed into New England Studios.
Local 481 members commitment to safety and to craft development was in full effect as many gave up paid work and/or precious family time to attend this training. In addition, they agreed to mentor other Local 481 members in subsequent rigging classes at New England Studios this winter and spring.
We gratefully thank our trainers, the IATSE Entertainment & Exhibition Industries Training Trust Fund, New England Studios, dozens of Local 481 members involved in the planning & implementation of this series, and our many local vendors who donated equipment and Materials.
