IATSE 481 has proudly represented technicians, artisans, and craftspeople in the motion picture industry in New England since 1989. If you watch television, movies, or surf the web, you have seen our work. Local 481 represents over 900 of New England’s most experienced motion picture technicians and craftspeople.

In order to become a member of IATSE Local 481:

  • You must be of good moral character and reputation.
  • You must have been a resident within the jurisdiction of the Local for at least 18 months immediately preceding the application. IATSE Local 481’s jurisdiction covers Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
  • You must have a minimum of 30 days of work in the craft in which you are applying or that is related to the craft in which you are applying.
  • You must be of legal age to engage in gainful occupation within the jurisdiction of the Local.
  • There shall be no discrimination against any person in respect to membership in this Local by reason of race, color, creed, national origin, sex, age or sexual orientation.
